Back to school. No one wants to hear this, but the truth is many of us parents are starting to think about the fall schedule. You’re searching through potential activities to sign your kids up for. You’re thinking of taking a class yourself or volunteering.
I want you to scrap it all right now and start with this challenge instead.
We are so quick to fill our schedules up with activities that we run ourselves and our children to the ground with a schedule that can’t be sustained. Then we complain about how much we eat drive through and drive our kids around. Who created this crazy schedule?
We are stressing our children out
The problem with overstuffing our schedules and saying “yes” to too many things is that we actually create an environment for anxiety and stress. Our kids need enough downtime in order to thrive mentally. Over 70% of parents believe that keeping kids busy is important. 40% of children are sleep deprived from being too busy. Children need sleep in order to be able to think creatively and function. Studies also show that when families slow down, they can eat meals together which has statistically shown a greater increase in family connection and youth resilience. (Stats found here)
So, before you take another look for activities online, I want you to take my Simplify Your Life Challenge. This challenge asks you to FIRST get clear on your values and create your fall schedule around that instead.
Before you know what to say “yes” to, you need to get clear on what matters. Too many people let their lives pass them by and never do what really matters to them. Getting clear on your top 3 values will help you say “no” to everything that is stealing what you really care about.
Our family did something radical
A couple of years ago, our family made a list of our values. On the top of that list was travel, yet our schedule would never allow for it. We saw our kids were miserable in the activities we were signing them up for. They would beg us to let them quit half way through. We would have endless arguments around the amounts of money we would spend on activities our kids didn’t appreciate.
One day we did something radical. We took our boys out of all activities and decided to get serious about our value of travel. We took our boys out of school and made travel possible at any time of the year with homeschooling. I’m not advocating for homeschooling, I’m using the example of the radical decisions we made in order to make what we really wanted possible.
Everything you dream of for your family is POSSIBLE
Everything your family dreams of is possible, so why are you settling for less? Why are you buying into the idea that busy is better?
For the challenge, I want you to book 2 sessions with me.
The first session will be about getting clear on your values. I have designed a great way for you to discover what you truly value!
The second session will be creating a plan for your fall season that reflects those values that allows you to start living the life you’ve always wanted rather than putting up with the same old routine that has tired your family out. People are more likely to achieve their goals when there is accountability involved. I want everyone to have what we have personally experienced. It’s your turn.
The best part is that the first 20 people who sign up fro the challenge only pay $150 plus get a free copy of my book, Bring Them Closer releasing this fall. (Regular price is $325) Email me here and be the first 20 before September 1 to get this deal.
